Intro (by Ashley C)

Welcome to our blog! Throughout these postings my group and I plan to inform our readers about the causes, preventions, origins, and overall definition of teen suicide and depression. The simple statistics show how severe this has become in today’s society and how it is only getting worse. With this blog we all want to be able to give people a better understanding of what teen suicide and depression really is and how with faith and hope it can be prevented. Teen suicide and depression effects so many teens and most of the people around them might not even notice. We also want to show people the signs of depression within teens so help can be gotten quicker and they can go back to a normal life. Remembering three simple words; faith, hope, and love, can allow a person to get through any situation they are put in and come out of it feeling better than ever because they will know that they were able to overcome something that could have been the reason for their death. Teen suicide and depression needs to be controlled and hopefully by reading our blog one might be able to see how this can happen and stop some of the 4,250 teens that die from suicide each year. Even though one may feel all alone in the world, having a strong faith in God can remind them that they have one person that is always by their side helping them through the thing that they feel the need to end their life as a result of.

  1. I think this blog will not only be very beneficial to teens that are going through a hard time during a part of their life, but also the people around them. The people around them, their friends, teachers, coaches, or parents can benefit from this blog by learning the signs of teen suicide and depression and the steps to help. Reaching out to someone you think might be depressed could help save a life. God wants us to help our neighbors. Helping is the basis of Christianity.

  2. Teens that feel as though suicide is the way out need help. I feel that this blog will make us more aware of the situations that teen go through everyday of their lives and what led these suicidal teens to believe that suicide is the answer to their problems. This blog will also inform everyone about how serious this problem really is and help us to understand the needs of some teens.

  3. The first step to overcoming a sickness or disease is to become informed about the situation at hand. This information will be helpful to all people involved in the grave predicament. People will no longer feel helpless and alone because knowledge will be provided in order to help others. Our goal is to inform not only the victims but the family, friends, and other neighbors. This will benefit the people around the victims by providing information of how to help the ones they love that are suffering. The victims will be helped by being able to speak to knowledgeable people and not just still pieces of flesh. Minds will be fulfilled with ways to help and almost cure the problem. Knowledge is power, where there is a will to help someone there is a way.
